Gregorian Chant and Polyphony Sacred Music Workshop Details

The Gregorian Chant and Polyphony Sacred Music Workshop to be held at my parish October 26-27 2007 is taking shape.  You can now find all the details, as well as a downloadable brochure and a link to online registration, at the St. Peter's parish website www.saintpetercatholic.com

Why should you come to our workshop?  For one thing, Stevens Point WI is a beautiful little spot right in the middle of the dairy state, a small city along the Wisconsin River with some enjoyable distractions to partake of when you're not at the workshop... such as walking the Green Circle Trail or other hiking and biking opportunities, or taking a tour of the Stevens Point Brewery.  You can even stay in a Victorian bed and breakfast!  There are lots of other options for lodging, and a wide variety of dining too.

What I think you will really love about this location for a Gregorian Chant Workshop is our church.  St. Peter's was built by hard working Polish people, with many of its ornaments including beautiful stained glass windows and a cloud of witnesses in statuary in the reredos behind the altar and in the two side altar areas, sacrificed for and purchased during and following the Great Depression.  Here's a picture of our church:

Besides the well-preserved church itself, we also have at our disposal some uncommon culinary talent in our parish.  You'll enjoy a wine and cheese reception, some baked goodies and fruit with your coffee or juice in the morning, freshly made sandwiches and other healthy stuff for the lunch buffet, and last but not least a homemade Italian dinner with a string quartet providing musical entertainment!

You will certainly not leave empty handed from this workshop either.  Everyone will get a Gregorian Chant Master Class textbook ($30 value), and I speak from experience when I say this book alone could help you get a schola started in your parish.  All the music we'll sing for Mass will be provided to you and rehearsing these will form the main vehicle of the workshop, under the expert guidance of Rev. Dr. Robert Skeris.

Hope you will join us!
