Free Score: a 9/11 Psalm
Our Cathedral is hosting a special “Blue Mass” to commemorate the 25th anniversary of 9/11. A Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions (FDLC) document suggested using Psalm 10 for 9/11 memorials. This intrigued me since I liked the refrain, so I went hunting for the Lectionary entry. As it happens, this particular psalm does not have an official entry. Nevertheless, the text of Psalm 10 is very appropriate, so I decided to set the text anyway. I’m pleased to report that the bishop agreed with me, and this setting has been approved for use in our diocese. Given the peculiar nature of this 25th anniversary, I’m sharing this psalm here in case it helps anyone else.
